I think being able to cheese like every wave by letting the enemies fall into the magma in the second area was a key factor in why this was easier

Sentries have been updated to have a cooldown of 2 instead of 3! Which is probably relevant i dont know... I feel bad for the poor guy that took like 5 minutes beating this right before I updated the game
